Leo is a native of Canton, Mississippi. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He completed a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Leo and his wife, Donna, have two daughters, Adelle and Alani.
