The most important news you will ever hear is the gospel – the good news about Jesus Christ. God created us to be in a relationship with Him, but our sin separates us from Him. Sin includes anything we think, say, or do that goes against God’s perfect standards. We have all sinned and fall short of God’s glory.
The penalty for our sin is death and eternal separation from God. But God loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to rescue us. Jesus is fully God and fully man. He lived a perfect, sinless life.
Christ endured the punishment for our sins by dying on the cross. He took the penalty that we deserve. Three days later, He rose from the dead, defeating sin and death once for all. He is alive today and His victory complete.
Christ offers us forgiveness from sin and eternal life by placing our faith in Him. Faith means trusting completely in Jesus’ death and resurrection as the only way our sins can be forgiven. It means turning away from living for ourselves and following Jesus as Lord of our lives.
God will credit Christ’s righteousness to us when we put our trust in Jesus. He promises to transform us from the inside out by His Holy Spirit. Those who have faith in Jesus will spend eternity with Him in heaven.
These are the core beliefs that anchor everything we do. They represent what we believe to be the core elements of biblical teaching. These are the beliefs that help motivate and guide us as we seek to build relationships, serve the Lake Area, and point people to the power of the gospel.
Each doctrine points back to God’s loving plan to rescue humanity through his Son. Our prayer is that as you explore these summaries rooted in Scripture, you’ll walk away understanding both what unites us as the body of Christ and how you can get involved in our church family. Most of all, we long for Christ’s name to be known and for every person to experience the life, hope and purpose He offers.
We are a Southern Baptist Church and a member of the Louisiana Baptist Convention. We subscribe to the Baptist Faith and Message.
We’re passionate about connecting people to the life-changing message of the gospel. These core doctrines shape both what we believe and how we live and serve in the Lake Area.
Our prayer is that as you explore these key points of doctrine, you’ll come away understanding more of the gospel and how you can get involved in sharing His hope and love. Why not start a conversation with us to find out more today?
