The Gospel for Kids – The Bridge

Bro. David talked to the kids about Christ during VBS 2024. He laid a solid foundation for understanding who Jesus is and what He’s done for us. Knowing this could bless families, we decided to include his message in our resource library. Watching together is a great way to spark conversations about faith.

Our prayer is that this resource will not only help your children understand the Gospel but also provide an opportunity for your family to grow in faith together.

Additional Resources and Support

  • Downloadable coloring book: We’ve created a downloadable coloring book that walks kids through the Gospel message in a fun and engaging way. It’s a great way to reinforce what they’ve learned. There are two versions available:
  • Prayer requests: If you or your child have any prayer requests, please reach out. Our prayer team would love to lift your requests before the throne of grace. (James 5:16; Galatians 6:2)
  • Talk to a minister: If you have questions or need help talking to your kids about the Gospel, or if your child is interested in baptism, we would love to talk about it. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to come alongside you and your family every step of the way.

Further Study

We’ve put together some questions to help you open dialogue with your child. It’s a great way to help ensure they understand the Gospel, its importance, and what it means for us all.

  • Who did God create first and where did He place them?
  • What was the one rule God gave Adam and Eve?
  • What happened when Adam and Eve disobeyed God?
  • What is sin, and why is it a problem for all of us?
  • Take a minute to read Romans 3:23. Who has sinned? Can you think of examples of things we do that are sins?
  • What does Romans 6:23 say is the consequence of sin?
  • How does God show His love for us in spite of our sin?
  • Read Romans 5:8 out loud. How did Jesus show His love for us?
  • Why is Jesus’ death and resurrection important for us?
  • What does Romans 10:9-10 tell us we need to do to be saved?
  • Why is believing in Jesus and confessing Him as Lord important?
  • What happens if we sin after we become Christians? Does God still love us? What does God tell us in Romans 8:1 about this?
  • If we have a family at home, why do we need a church family?
  • What should you do if you have questions about Jesus? Is there also someone at church you can talk to?

The Gospel

If you have questions about what it means to be a Christian, we would love to talk with you about it.

Reach out

Hey kids! Let’s talk about the most amazing news ever–the Gospel!

The word “gospel” means “good news,” and it’s the best news you’ll ever hear. It’s all about Jesus and what He did for us. So, let’s dive in!

Sin and Its Consequences

First, we need to understand what sin is. Sin is anything we think, say, or do that goes against God’s rules. Have you ever told a lie, disobeyed your parents, or been mean to someone? Those are all sins. In the video, Bro. David explained that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This means that what we earn because of our sin is separation from God – a big, sad forever without Him. That’s the bad news.

God’s Love and the Gift of Jesus

But here comes the good news! God loves us so much that He didn’t want us to be separated from Him forever. So, He sent His Son, Jesus, to fix this problem. Jesus lived a perfect life – He never sinned. Then, He took the punishment for our sins by dying on the cross. Imagine someone stepping in to take your place when you deserve a time-out or punishment – that’s what Jesus did for us, but in a much bigger way.

Remember the verse Bro. David mentioned? “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). Jesus didn’t stay dead. He rose from the grave three days later! Because He lives, we can have life with Him forever.

Receiving the Gift

Just like our pastor said, a gift is something you receive, not something you earn. You don’t have to be perfect or do a bunch of good things to get this gift. You simply need to believe in Jesus – that He died for your sins and rose again – and trust Him to save you. When you do this, you move from being separated from God to being His child, part of His forever family. Eternal life starts right now!

Living for Jesus

When you accept Jesus’ gift, He wants you to follow Him every day. It’s like having the best coach ever who helps you live a life that makes God happy. Jesus helps us grow in our faith, learn more about Him, and share this good news with others.

So, here’s the big question: Do you want to receive God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus? It’s the best decision you’ll ever make! Remember, Jesus loves you more than you can imagine, and He wants you to be with Him forever!
