O Worship the King: Worship from the Other Side of the Struggle
Is your life harder than you expected? The first readers of Revelation knew that well. Facing Roman persecution, many lost their lives because they stayed faithful through the worst. In Revelation 14 and 15, we see why Jesus was worth it. Watch or listen in as Senior Pastor David Rose helps us see why the King deserves our worship too.
Key Takeaways
- Jesus stirs worship from His people. (Revelation 14:1-5)
- Jesus deserves glory from all the earth. (Revelation 14:6-13)
- Jesus will bring judgment on earth. (Revelation 14:14-20)
- God stirs worship with His justice. (Revelation 15:1-8)
Discussing and Applying the Sermon
- Take a minute to read Revelation 14:1 to 5 and 15:1 to 4 before you begin. What does John see on Mount Zion? Who is standing with the Lamb?
- What do the 144,000 do that no one else can do?
- Why do you think the people in this passage can sing a song no one else can learn?
- Pastor David said we often ask Jesus to spare us from hard times. What does Revelation 14 teach about that prayer?
- What is one thing that stirs worship in your heart right now? Is it Christ, or is it something else?
- Where do you need Christ to be greater than your discomfort this week?
- Worship is not only what happens on Sunday. It is how you respond to the King when life is hard. Ask yourself what you trust most when pressure comes.
The Gospel
If you have questions about what it means to be a Christian, we would love to talk with you about it.
Reach outJesus is the Lamb who stands on Mount Zion. He is worthy of worship because He died for sinners and rose from the dead. Paul put the good news this way: Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, He was buried, and He was raised on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3 to 4).
Every person has sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. Revelation shows that God’s judgment is real, and it is also just. Our hope is not in our own faithfulness. Our hope is in the finished work of Christ, who keeps us when we are weak.
If you have never worshiped Jesus, you can start today. Turn from your sin and trust Him as King. Ask Him to make you His own. If you already know Him, ask Him to strengthen your faith and to keep your worship on Him alone.
If you’re not sure what that looks like, we’d love to walk with you through that decision. Reach out and set up a time to talk.
