One time when Jesus and His disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee, a storm developed. The disciples were scared, but Jesus was asleep below deck. In another storm, Jesus came to them, walking on water. The power and presence of God gives His people peace while the storm rages.

Yahweh was demonstrating His power to Pharaoh, and Egypt had seen nine devastating plagues. Nonetheless, the Egyptians regarded Moses highly, and they showed favor to the Hebrews (Exodus 11:3). The Egyptian people were willing to admit what Pharaoh never would—Yahweh was supreme. As a result, the Hebrews had peace while a storm raged around them.

Yahweh demonstrated this peace with His presence through the Passover observance. Those who trusted Yahweh placed the blood of a spotless lamb on the doorpost of their homes. Every home covered in blood avoided the plague of death, but those not covered by the sacrificial blood lost their firstborn as judgment against the gods of Egypt (Exodus12:12).

The Hebrews were free because Yahweh delivered them. They trusted Him, and He blessed their obedience. He called them to gather annually and commemorate this monumental moment. After 430 years, they were heading home, and every generation needed to remember this.

God is with those who have faith in Him. Through Christ, God sets free the faithful from the chains that bind them. God calls the liberated to share their story so the next generation can know freedom, too. Praise God for peace and freedom in Jesus. Tell others about Him.
