Two Roads Diverged into the AI World
In this message from Proverbs 9, Pastor David helps us consider the two voices calling out to us every day, using nearly the same words. One is Wisdom. The other is Folly. And the difference between them isn’t how they sound, it’s where they lead. He shows how the world around us, including the rise of artificial intelligence, constantly offers faster, easier, cheaper substitutes for the real thing. Real wisdom, though, isn’t a shortcut. It’s a relationship. This message is a call to stop settling for recreational commitment and counterfeit shortcuts, and to instead answer the invitation that Christ Himself is extending.
Key Takeaways
- God invites people to grow in wisdom. (Proverbs 9:1-9)
- God says a relationship with Him is the source of wisdom. (Proverbs 9:10-12)
- God knows the world offers counterfeit options. (Proverbs 9:13-18)
Further Study
- Proverbs 9:1-6 describes Wisdom preparing a feast and sending servants to call people in. She doesn’t wait for you to wander toward her. What does the intentionality of that invitation tell you about how God works? How does that shape how you understand coming to faith? Spend some time reading John 6:44; Matthew 11:28-30 before answering.
- Pastor David drew a distinction between information and relationships. You can know a lot about God without knowing God. What’s the difference? Which one better describes your own walk with Him right now? Cross-reference: John 17:3; Philippians 3:8-10
- Proverbs 9:7-9 warns that rebuking a mocker will cost you. Jesus said the same in John 15:18-21. How do you hold the tension between wanting to speak truth to people you love and knowing that until the Spirit moves, they won’t receive it? Cross-reference: John 15:18-21; 2 Timothy 2:24-26
- “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 9:10). Pastor David described this as a reverence that draws you closer rather than driving you away. Take a minute to read Psalm 130:3-4 and Proverbs 28:14. What does a healthy fear of God actually look like in your daily life? Where do you see it working in you, or where is it missing?
- Folly mimics Wisdom. Same location, same words, different destination. Where in your life are you most tempted to settle for a counterfeit, something that looks like a real relationship or real wisdom but costs you the genuine thing? Read through Genesis 3:1-6 and Hebrews 12:1-2 and consider the voices and their messages speaking in these passages. What do you learn here?
- Pastor David closed with a question: “You have a Savior, but are you really following Him as your shepherd?” What would it look like this week to move from recreational commitment to genuine surrender in one specific area? Name it. (cf Luke 9:23; Romans 12:1-2)

Wisdom is not inviting you to learn more things. Jesus is inviting you into a relationship with Him.
