What does it look like to carry a message that is sweet to you and bitter to the world? Senior Pastor David Rose walked us through four truths from chapters Revelation 10-11.

Discussing and Applying the Sermon

  1. Describe the scroll in Revelation 10:9-10. What happens when John eats it? What is he told to do next in Revelation 10:11?
  2. In Revelation 11:1-2, what is John told to measure and what is he told to leave out?
  3. List everything the two witnesses wear, do, and suffer in 11:3-12. How do the people on earth respond to their death in Revelation 11:10?
  4. Read Ezekiel 2:8 to 3:3 and Psalm 119:103. Why is God’s word sweet to John? Why does it turn bitter?
  5. Read 1 Corinthians 3:16 and 6:19. If God’s people are His temple, what does it mean that God measures the temple but lets the outer court be trampled?
  6. In 11:17, the elders praise God “who is and who was.” Compare Revelation 1:8 and 4:8. What is missing, and why does it matter?
  7. The people on earth called the witnesses’ message “torment” (Revelation 11:10). When have you held back the call to repent because you expected that reaction? What did you say instead?
  8. Pastor David said that “The power lies in the truth and not in your delivery.” Does that statement free you or challenge you? Name one person you could share the gospel with this month.
  9. Pray for courage to speak the truth with love. Pray by name for the people you listed in question 11.
