Are You Struggling with Grief?

If you’re coping with the loss of a loved one, we invite you to join a GriefShare support group. You’ll find understanding, compassion, and practical tools to help you navigate the often overwhelming journey of grief.

What is GriefShare?

GriefShare is a 13-week, faith-based support group designed to provide encouragement and insight to those grieving the loss of a loved one. Each week, you’ll experience three key components:

  • Encouraging Video Seminars – Every session begins with a 30-minute video featuring grief experts and stories from people who have walked a similar road. These videos offer wisdom and comfort, helping you process your emotions and answer difficult questions about grief.
  • Supportive Group Discussions – After the video, you’ll connect with others in the group to share experiences, discuss helpful coping techniques, and receive encouragement from people who truly understand.
  • Personal Workbook – A GriefShare workbook is provided to guide you throughout the week, helping you apply what you’ve learned and providing practical exercises for processing your emotions.

What You’ll Gain in GriefShare

Grief is unpredictable, but you don’t have to face it alone. In a GriefShare group, you’ll learn that your feelings are valid and discover tools to help with common challenges like loneliness, anxiety, anger, and regret. Each session brings hope and a supportive environment to help you take steps forward at your own pace.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Loneliness – Find a way through the isolation and emptiness of grief.
  • Fear – Learn techniques to manage anxiety and uncertainty.
  • Anger – Discover healthy ways to express and process anger.
  • Regrets – Move beyond the “if only” thoughts that often accompany loss.
  • Relationships – Gain insights on navigating difficult interactions.
  • Hope – Learn to honor your loved one while finding a new sense of purpose.

  • What is a typical group session like?

Each week, we begin with a 30-minute video presentation on a topic relevant to grief. These sessions feature counselors, pastors, and others who share valuable perspectives drawn from their own experiences with loss. Afterward, the group spends time discussing the video’s themes and how they connect to daily life. You’ll also receive a workbook filled with practical exercises and resources to provide support between sessions.

  • Is there a cost?

GriefShare costs $20. This covers the workbook and materials.

  • Who is GriefShare for?

GriefShare is open to anyone mourning the loss of a loved one, no matter the relationship or type of loss.

  • How is GriefShare different from other grief support options?

While some support groups offer one-on-one phone or video sessions with professionals, GriefShare emphasizes a group setting. Healing is greatly enriched when people journey together, offering empathy, encouragement, and companionship. Individual counseling can be helpful, but many find that a group dynamic offers a fuller and more supported path toward healing.

  • Is GriefShare meant for specific types of loss?

GriefShare is designed for anyone dealing with the loss of a loved one, regardless of the relationship. Whether you’re grieving the death of a spouse, parent, child (of any age), sibling, friend, or other relative, this group provides understanding and comfort for a wide range of personal loss experiences.

  • Is GriefShare only for Christians?

GriefShare is based on Christian principles, but individuals from all backgrounds, including those who don’t follow a specific faith, have found hope and comfort in our sessions. The insights shared from counselors and grief experts offer practical help for anyone navigating loss.

  • Do I have to share my story with the group?

Not at all! While many people find it helpful to speak about their journey, there is no requirement to share. You’re welcome to attend, listen to others, and absorb the guidance offered by the videos and discussions, participating as much or as little as you feel comfortable.

  • What if I’m nervous about being with people I’ve never met?

Feeling anxious about meeting new people is normal, but most participants quickly feel at ease, often within the first session. Everyone in GriefShare is there for the same purpose: to find support and healing in a compassionate, judgment-free setting.

  • What are the group facilitators like?

Our facilitators are compassionate, trained volunteers who are dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming environment. They guide each session with sensitivity and understanding, making sure everyone feels comfortable and supported throughout the group’s journey.
