A Childcare Worker is committed to honoring Christ by encouraging, working with and loving preschoolers, children, and their families. Trinity Childcare Workers provide a stimulating, safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual and physical skills in a nurturing Christian environment.

Responsibilities

  • Be in the room 15 minutes before the event starts.
  • Ensure a worker is in the childcare room at all times; no child should ever be left alone.
  • Maintain a positive attitude when interacting with parents and children.
  • Create a loving atmosphere and provide for each child's needs.
  • Keep a moderate voice level while caring for children.
  • Actively engage with the children, not just supervise.
  • Keep baby beds changed, toys sterilized, the room clean, and supplies organized.
  • Teach children proper bathroom procedures (flushing, handwashing, wiping).
  • Never use physical punishment or verbal abuse as discipline.
  • Ensure all children's belongings are marked, and they receive their items upon leaving.
  • Be consistent with room rules and teach children the proper use of room items.
  • Set a good example; avoid saying or doing anything inappropriate for children.
  • Only release children to parents or approved adults, never to another child.
  • Direct complaints to the Childcare Coordinator, not coworkers.
  • Follow the work schedule set by the Childcare Coordinator and notify them in advance if unavailable to work.
  • Be prepared to work in any area as requested by the Childcare Coordinator. If not needed for scheduled work, you may leave 30 minutes after the event starts and will be paid for two (2) hours of work.

Requirements

  • Must have personal relationship with Christ.
  • Be a member of Trinity Baptist Church or a church of like faith and beliefs.
  • Have a basic understanding of the developmental ages and stages of preschoolers and children.
  • Desire to develop and nurture positive, Christ-centered relationships with children, parents and co-workers.
  • Able to maintain, organize, and teach a classroom of children.
  • Leave spaces clean and toys sanitized.
  • Be willing to follow all church Trinity Kids Preschool policies and be a positive representative of Trinity Baptist Church.
  • Physical requirements include being able to lift at least 20 pounds, get on and off the floor, actively supervising and providing basic care for children, and standing for extended periods of time.

Ensuring a Safe Environment

At Trinity Baptist Church, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our community. To maintain this commitment:

  • Mandatory Background Checks: All prospective employees are required to undergo thorough background checks as part of our hiring process.
  • Adherence to Safety Measures: Our team is trained in and follows comprehensive safety measures, including skillful screening, clear policies, and procedures, alongside regular monitoring and oversight.
  • Compliance with State Regulations: We strictly comply with the reporting obligations set forth by the state of Louisiana, ensuring accountability and transparency in our operations.
