What's with the Blood? How the blood of Christ justifies, sanctifies, and draws us near to God
Teaching Pastor Adam Brock examines the Matthew 26:26-28 considering the story of the Passover, and how it foreshadowed the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ.

Key Takeaways

  • The blood of Christ makes us holy: (Hebrews 13) Through His suffering and sacrifice, Jesus applies His blood to us, making us holy in the eyes of God. Without His blood, holiness would be unattainable for any of us.
  • The blood of Christ gives us confidence: (Hebrews 10) Knowing that His blood covers us, we can approach God with confidence, entering His presence without fear or hesitation.
  • The blood of Christ sets us free: (Revelation 1:5) Christ's blood liberates us from the bondage of sin, giving us true freedom and forgiveness from our transgressions.
  • The blood of Christ justifies us: (Romans 5:9) Through Jesus's blood, we are justified, meaning our sins have been dealt with, and we are declared righteous before God.
  • The blood of Christ paid the debt in full: (John 19:30) Jesus's proclamation of "It is finished" signifies that the price for our sins was fully paid through His sacrifice on the cross. This act of redemption is final and complete. We cannot add anything to it, nor can we find forgiveness apart from it.

Quote

Make no mistake, forgiveness of sin is found in the finished work of Christ. It was his blood that paid that price. You today can be freed from sin. I know that some of you know all too well what it means to feel hopeless. What it means to feel like you have no choice in the matter. Some of you, you've been doing things your whole life and you feel like, "I just can't help it. And I feel like I am a slave to stand that sin as my master. I don't want to do it, but I don't know how to break out of it." I'm telling you, the freedom that you're looking for is found in the blood of Christ.
