Truth is, Sunday Morning Bible Study is awkward. Especially that first time in the chair. So, on September 8, everyone will “pull up a chair” for the first time in a genre specific class! It’s a perfect time for you to “pull up a chair” and get connected! It is going to be awkward, because it’s new, because it’s different, because you won’t know everyone or maybe anyone. Everyone will feel awkward!

Life Sentences takes you into the lives of eight of the Old Testament personalities who encountered an extraordinary God. For each Biblical character, a verse is identified that sums up that individual’s life and then reflects on the lessons to be learned, both positive and negative. Not only will you be challenged by these examples, you will be stimulated to consider what your “life sentence” will be. The themes of each character’s life as reflected in the pages of Scripture will be brought to light. How does the Bible summarize this person’s life? What is the key to understanding his or her character? How do I see my own life reflected in the life of this person? This study will examine the lives of characters, such as Noah, Esau, Rachel, and Jonah. ORDER BOOK HERE

What is the path to the Biblical future? Where will it all end? This course will cover several subjects that relate to things yet to come but revealed in the scriptures. There will be a Biblical exploration into subjects such as: What happened to the Saints before Jesus came? What and when is the rapture? What will my body be like when I get to heaven? What are the different judgments mentioned in the Bible? Is there a difference in the judgment of Christ followers and the non-believers? What is the Bema seat of Christ mentioned in scriptures? What is the great white throne judgment? We will also discuss the seven years of tribulation, the seven bowl judgments, the seven trumpet blast judgments, and the seven scrolls that are mentioned in the book of Revelation, as well as the battle of Armageddon and the defeat of Satan. If that is not enough, the course will also cover the millennial reign of Jesus on the earth and the final battle against Satan and his followers, concluding with the new heaven and a new earth!

Why is doctrine important? Is it important to the everyday Christian life? Does it really matter what exactly we affirm and believe? Pastor Kevin DeYoung states, “Christianity is much more than getting your doctrine right. But it is not less. You can know true things and not be a Christian. But you cannot be a Christian without knowing true things.” In this study, we will look at 10 Great Doctrines of the Bible that are essential for the Christian to understand, affirm, and live out. It’s easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family, for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily…

In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple–then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a “successful” suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. ORDER BOOK HERE

Maybe your child is well behaved, or maybe you feel at your wits end with how to bring about obedience. Maybe you were excited to start a family, but now, five years in and three children later, your hopes and dreams seem disillusioned. You used to be a patient and happy person, but lately you’ve found yourself anxious, exhausted, and constantly on edge as you try to anticipate what your children will throw at you next.

Do you feel as if you spend your time being the nanny of two young children who require, as all do, training and discipling? You probably lack the grace and ability to bring about the “good behavior.” In this study, you will study 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family, and bring a breath of fresh air, as you Biblically address the struggles parents face by pointing back to the gospel, casting a vision that will give fresh perspective, and inspire you to grow in the grace of God as a parent. This is a video assisted study with a 5-minute video followed by discussion.  ORDER BOOK HERE

No book of the Bible more clearly illuminates the path of the Christian life than the book of Romans. Paul’s power-packed letter stands as a treatise on our faith, tackling important topics of immense importance such as sin, justification, sanctification, and more.

Take eight weeks to find out how the book of Romans can help you be right with God, yourself, and others. The book of Romans is a foundational book for Christian Doctrine. Using at least eight select passages in the book of Romans, this study will cover topics such as:

• What exactly is Holy Living?
• How to be right before God
• What is Justification?
• New life in Christ
• What is Sacrificial Worship?

This course will also study the faith-deepening doctrine and theology underpinning everything Christians hold dear.

Contrary to popular belief, we do not have to be perfect to do God’s work. Look no further than the twelve disciples, whose many weaknesses are forever preserved throughout the pages of the New Testament. Jesus chose ordinary men—fishermen, tax collectors, political zealots—and turned their weakness into strength, producing greatness from utter uselessness. This class draws principles from Christ’s careful, hands-on training of the original twelve disciples for today’s modern disciple—you. This course will investigate each original disciple and you will see the disciples as you have never seen them before. They were ordinary men, but they were available and obedient to the call.  ORDER BOOK HERE

Not sure what to do next? Through this in-depth look at the book of James, this course offers stories and Biblical insights about what to do: when you’re feeling pressured, when wrong seems right, when you don’t know what decision to make, when faith doesn’t seem to work, when you’re not feeling confident, when your goals are not God’s, when you’re in a hurry and God is not, when you have financial struggles, and when you face difficult times.

Sometimes the big and small decisions in life seem overwhelming. How do you know what choices to make about your career, kids, and relationships? Even when you make good decisions, how do you avoid temptation along the way? In this course, you will walk through the book of James to glean God’s wisdom on issues such as finances, faith, and decision making. ORDER BOOK HERE

The Bible has plenty to say about prophecy of end times. In a straightforward easy to understand way Dr. David Jerimiah lays out ten scriptural prophecies, in a  chronological checklist, and offers a guideline for sorting it all out. This is a total video-driven class.  In What in the World Is Going On? Pastor Dr. David Jeremiah answers the hard questions, including these: “How is prophecy playing out in modern Europe?” “Why does Israel matter?” “How are oil reserves and Islamic terrorism related?” “Does the United States play a role in prophecy?” “How should we live in the end times?”
Events unfolding in today’s world are certainly unsettling, but they need not be confusing or frightening. Now you can know the meaning behind what you see in the daily news—and understand what in the world is going on!  This class meets in the Parlor- Facilitator Rick Sims
