On August 26, 2020 in the midst of COVID-19, category 4 Hurricane Laura pushed her way across the southwest region of Louisiana. She left devastation in her wake with hundreds of churches and thousands of homes and businesses destroyed. According to the U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, this is the most devastating storm to hit the coast of Louisiana since 1856. It will eventually be classified as one of the top five storms to have hit the continental US. Our community is devastated and many are already being notified of layoffs and job elimination. The “Hurricane Laura Relief Fund” will be used to provide benevolent care for our local community.
